The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today the nominees for the 86th Academy Awards®. Four films screened locally by the Ashland Independent Film Festival have been honored with nominations and are headed to the Oscars® ceremony on Sunday, March 2nd, 2014.
The Ashland Independent Film Festival Monthly Film Series selection “20 Feet from Stardom” received a nomination nod for Best Documentary Feature. Also nominated in that category are “Dirty Wars” directed by festival alumni, Richard Rowley (The War of 33), and “Cutie and the Boxer.” Both films were featured during Varsity World Film Week, along with “The Hunt,” which is nominated for Best Foreign Language Film. Additional nominees will be featured in the lineup for the 13th annual Ashland Independent Film Festival, which takes place April 3 – 7, 2014. The complete schedule will be announced in early March.
The Ashland Independent Film Festival will roll out the red carpet to celebrate Festival alumni on Hollywood’s biggest night, Sunday, March 2nd. Film lovers are invited to watch the 86th annual Academy Awards® on two large screens at Southern Oregon University’s Rogue River Room. The black-tie optional evening is co-sponsored by the Hannon Library and will feature an elegant dinner and dessert catered by A’Viands, a selection of the Rogue Valley’s finest wines, and Noble Coffee. The gala also includes a raffle with a variety of prizes. Tickets are $65 per person or $480 for a table of eight, and go on sale January 20th at ashlandfilm.org.
