Join Kopple, Friday 4/4 at 6p in the Historic Ashland Amory Armory, with her special guests, David Morris, an Appalachian musician from West Virginia featured in Academy Award winning Harlan County USA, and his son Jack as they weave film and music into a lively evening of conversation, providing insight into Barbara’s celebrated filmmaking career.

How did you get started in filmmaking?
Barbara: I got my start as an intern for the Maysles brothers.

Who inspired you to become a filmmaker?
Barbara: Gillo Pontecorvo, the incredible director of Battle of Algiers.

If you were a superhero, what would your super power be?
Barbara: To be in two places at once!

What is your go to Karaoke tune?
Barbara: New York City Serenade by Bruce Springsteen.

What are you looking forward to most for your visit to Ashland?
Barbara: Seeing old friends, meeting new people, and of course seeing David Morris perform!
